Many families have taken their child back for a return visit their child's orphanage when s/he is older. Fujian Province is in the process of changing its regulations concerning these return visits. An interim set of guidelines has been established and is described below.
Travel arrangements can be made through any agency or organization of your choice. But regardless of who makes your travel arrangements, the Fujian Province Office of Civil Affairs is requesting that advance permission be obtained before you make your visit.

Required Documentation
Send the following documents to the Fujian International Adoption Service Center:
| 1. | an application letter requesting permission to visit the orphanage. The letter should include: | ||
| (a) | the parent(s)' names, | ||
| (b) | the child's Chinese and American names, | ||
| (c) | child's gender, | ||
| (d) | child's date of birth, | ||
| (e) | date of adoption, | ||
| (f) | name of the child's orphanage, | ||
| (g) | reason for visit (simply state that you wish to show your child his/her first home and thank the orphanage caretakers for their care of your child), | ||
| (h) | dates you plan to visit the orphanage, and | ||
| (i) | parents' mailing address, telephone number, and email address | ||
| 2. | copy of Adoption Registration Certificate and notary certificate | ||
| 3. | copy of photo page of parent(s)' passport | ||
| 4. | name, address, and occupation of anyone else visiting the orphanage with you (if any) | ||
Fees
No fees are charged to obtain permission to visit the orphanage. However, if you request the Fujian International Adoption Service Center to provide additional services, there will be charges for those. For instance, if you wish them to provide additional information about your child's background and the social welfare institute, there is a $50 fee. The service center can also make travel arrangements for your visit to the orphanage, travel within Fujian Province, and/or travel in other parts of China.
